......a tribute to the infamous St. John Fisher School Headmaster
Over the years it has become more and more apparent that many ex-pupils of St John Fisher Primary School feel a very real sense of connection with each other, even 25 years down the line when they've lead very different lives in different parts of the country (and world). Definately far more so than the majority of other primary school classmates that we have spoken with.
There could be a number of contributing reasons for this, but it's evident that many people seem to cite Mr Higgins (and the great team of staff he lead) as a major influence and factor in this. He himself, in his typical self-effacing, humble and down to earth nature would argue against this and play such a suggestion down, but I believe it's important that those of us who have had the privilege of learning under his guidance let him know about his impact.
This site is not only a tribute to the man himself: a space where he (and others) can realise the legacy he helped create, but also a free meeting (and conversation) space for all people who have been involved with Mr Higgins and St John Fisher.
The site is intended to be interactive, whereby you create and update the site content by leaving a message on the forums, detailing (for example) your favourite memories and experiences, or any words you would like to pass on to either Mr Higgins or any other St John Fisher friend.
As we are all aware, time passes by quickly (is it really nearly 20 years since I left Junior 4 feeling 'oh so grown up?'), and none of us are getting any younger. I personally think it would be a wonderful testament and offering if, as a collective of people who have been touched by Mr Higgin's personality in the past, that we share something of those memories and let him know how he has impacted us for the better.
Please leave any reservations about not contributing aside, and take 5 minutes to post up a comment in the forum......this site is only as strong as your input to it! Likewise submit your favourite photos and we will upload them onto the site.
Please enjoy the site, make a written contribution and spread the word to as many others as possible. This is YOUR site so take the reins and enjoy utilising it.
